Mobile location-based services in Europe and North America are expected to generate over £4 billion in 2018

A new research report by Berg Insight predicts that revenue from mobile location-based services in Europe will grow from €735 million last year to €2.3 billion (£1.9 billion) in 2018, which is a compound annual growth rate of 25.8%.

Meanwhile, the North American mobile location-based service market is expected to grow at 16.1% per year from $1.8 billion in 2013 to reach $3.8 billion (£2.3 billion) in 2018.

Mobile device manufacturers need to improve audio quality, suggests new research

The quality of the audio experience on mobile devices hasn’t kept pace with other developments, according to a new report from ABI Research.

It described audio as “the Achilles’ heel” of feature phones, smartphones and tablets.

Designing mobile phones for seniors: we talk to Doro and Emporia Telecom

EE offers in-store customer tracking for retailers

UK mobile network operator EE has launched a new retail service called ‘Connected Retail’ to help shops monitor their customers’ behaviour.

Although full details haven’t been announced, the new service is described as using mobile connectivity inside shops “to improve the customer experience and open new revenue streams”.
