Mobile payments company Square, which offers a plug-in card reader that enables iPhone and Android users to accept credit card payments, has received a "strategic investment" from Visa.
Square, currently only available in the USA, recently announced that it was processing more than a million dollars per day.

Apple has announced financial results for its fiscal 2011 second quarter today.
In the three-month period until 26th March 2011 the company sold 18.65 million iPhones, up 113% year-on-year, and 4.69 million iPads.

ABI Research has calculated that the Apple iPad accounted for 85% of media tablets shipped in 2010.
In second place was the Samsung Galaxy Tab with about 8% market share, followed by the Archos Internet Tablet range at 2%.

RIM has announced a launch date and pricing for its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. It'll be available in the USA and Canada on 19th April via Best Buy, with a range of other retailers also expected to sell the devices.
There'll be three WiFi-equipped models, from $499 (around £305) for the 16GB version to $699 for the 64GB version.
