UK-based mobile network monitoring specialist Arieso, which was set up eleven years ago by former Vodafone research engineer Shirin Dehghan, has been acquired by American technology business JDSU for $85 million (£57 million).
Arieso analyses mobile network traffic to help network operators improve performance and see where new network services could be introduced.

Motorola Mobility, which was bought by Google last year, is reported to be cutting 1,200 more jobs.
The company announced restructuring plans last August with around 4,000 jobs being lost at Motorola facilities around the world.

Google Play, the company’s Android application store, is celebrating its first birthday. Although the original ‘Android Market’ opened in October 2008, it was renamed in March last year.

Tesco Mobile, which operates as a joint venture with O2 UK, has announced a ‘Tariff Promise’ to never raise its monthly mobile phone charges during the minimum term of a contract.
The news comes just a week before the end of Ofcom’s consultation into mid-term price rises.
