MasterCard has launched a new digital payment service called MasterPass.
It combines a secure ‘digital wallet’ for online shopping with the ability to use a mobile device for payments in high-street shops.

Facebook has set up partnerships with a number of mobile network operators to provide customers with free or cut-price data access to Facebook messaging.
The reduced prices - described as a ‘promotion’ by Facebook - will be available via the Facebook Messenger iOS and Android applications as well as the Facebook for Every Phone app for Java-enabled handsets.

Yesterday afternoon at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, crowdsourced coverage map provider OpenSignal was named the UK’s most innovative mobile company.
Five finalists took place in a final pitch and judging session as part of the Smart UK Project.
