Online security specialist Symantec and mobile security business Giesecke & Devrient have agreed a partnership that’ll see them working together on protected security applications for smartphones and tablets.
This collaboration centres on the Trusted Execution Environment: a secure area within the main processor of a mobile device.

LG’s pre-MWC announcements continue with news of a new mass-market 4G smartphone range.
The LG Optimus F Series will make its debut at Mobile World Congress next week, starting with the Optimus F5 and Optimus F7. Both are 4G LTE Android-powered devices “designed to bring a premium user experience and the speed of 4G LTE to a mass audience”.

Acer says the first two smartphones of its 2013 line-up will be showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Google has published a new video demonstration of its Project Glass headset, which offers a wearable computer with a camera and display built into a pair of ‘smart glasses’.
The project was first revealed last year.
Gamers using tablet devices are expected to spend $3.03 billion (£1.98 billion) on in-app purchases in 2016, more than ten times last year’s estimated total of $301 million.
The figures come from a new report published by Juniper Research, which says the increase will be driven by the rapid adoption of tablets and the growing acceptance of in-game purchasing.
