The total value of the mobile marketing and advertising market worldwide will grow from €3.8 billion (£3.1 billion) last year to €19.7 billion in 2017, according to a research report from Berg Insight.
That’s a compound annual growth rate of 31%.

It has been reported recently that consumer spend via mobile is on the increase this Christmas. Further confirmation has come from research indicating that 20% of the expected £4.6bn of total online shopping will be carried out using smartphones and tablets.
If consumers want to browse, research and purchase via mobile, then is it not something of a surprise that only 7% of adspend in the UK currently goes on mobile?

33% of consumer brands will integrate payment into their mobile apps by 2015, according to a new report from Gartner.
It says the trend will be most noticeable for brands with retail outlets, including the fashion, food & drink, grocery and entertainment sectors.

Quarterly figures from Research in Motion reveal that the company’s revenue has fallen by 47% year-on-year to $2.7 billion (£1.7 billion), while net profit for the quarter was down from $265 million in Q3 2011 to $14 million this year.
Around 60% of quarterly revenue came from hardware, 36% from services and 4% for software and other revenue.

Communications technology company Arris Group has arranged a deal with Google to buy the Motorola Home business from Motorola Mobility for $2.05 billion (£1.27 billion) in cash and around $300 million of Arris shares.
The mobile-focussed part of Motorola Mobility will remain with Google.
