Mobile VoIP provider and virtual network Truphone has updated its Local Anywhere service. Until now, customers have had to choose a specific country from before receiving local rates for calls.
The company has now launched Truphone Membership, which offers local rates in all Truphone countries for just £10 a month.

Last year, around 2.6 billion applications were downloaded from 'app stores' to consumer mobile phones. In 2015, that figure is expected to be 25 billion.
It's the latest calculation from Juniper Research, which also notes that 'freemium' – free to download but with chargeable options later - is becoming the most popular business model for apps.

BT has formed a partnership with Arqiva and Detica to build a dedicated radio network designed for 'smart metering' in the UK. Existing GSM and GPRS technology has been used for most of the projects so far.
The UK Government has previously said it wants all homes to have smart meters by 2020, with Ofgem expected to publish more details this month.
