Ofcom speeds up the 4G process for UK mobile networks

Multiple 4G mobile services expected to launch by summer 2013

The government and Ofcom have confirmed that the UK’s major mobile networks will be able to launch 4G mobile phone services in the first half of next year.

800MHz and 2.6GHz radio frequencies for 4G services are being made available earlier than previously expected, which means networks will be able to launch 4G within a few months of the planned spectrum auction.

AppCentral creates products that allow organisations to distribute, manage, and secure their mobile applications.

Upgrade for flagship phone as HTC announces the One X+

HTC has announced an updated version of its One X Android smartphone.

The HTC One X+ has a similar design to its predecessor but offers improved performance, a longer battery life, more storage and the new HTC Sense 4+ user interface.

Visa Europe, RBS and NatWest bring NFC mobile payments to iPhone customers

RBS and NatWest have launched an NFC mobile contactless payment service for bank customers with an Apple iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S.

The service, which is called TouchPay, has been developed with Visa Europe and uses a protective iCarte cover that incorporates NFC technology.
