The International Telecommunication Union - the United Nations’ agency for Information and Communication technologies - has published its latest figures showing how the uptake of ICT is growing around the world.
Its latest annual report ranks the Republic of Korea (South Korea) as the world’s most advanced ICT economy, followed by Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland. The UK is a new entry in the ICT top ten, moving up from last year’s 14th place to 9th place in 2012.
Huawei has confirmed that it’s moving its UK Headquarters from Basingstoke to the Green Park business park on the edge of Reading.
It will move into 300 South Oak Way in April next year.

New figures from the UK Internet Advertising Bureau reveal that advertising on the internet and on mobile phones has increased by 12.6% to £2.6 billion in the first half of 2012. That’s a £294 million increase from the first half of 2011.
Digital advertising on mobile devices is up 132% to £181.5 million, driven by increasing smartphone ownership.

A new 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey in Guildford has been given the go-ahead.
The research centre, which will support the development of fifth-generation mobile communications in the UK, is receiving a total of £35 million in funding.

Revenue generated by app downloads and in-app advertisements in the UK will reach €556 million (£449 million) this year, according to a report from mobile research specialists research2guidance.
It means the UK is the biggest app market in Europe in terms of revenue generated as well as the overall number of downloads and users.
