Microsoft withdraws from the joint-owned Barnes & Noble NOOK eBook business

Barnes & Noble and Microsoft have agreed to end their NOOK eBook partnership.

The two organisations formed NOOK Media LLC in 2012, combining Barnes & Noble’s digital eBook and College education businesses into a new company that was 17.6% owned by Microsoft.

Europe moves closer to launching in-car eCall emergency service in 2018

The European Parliament has moved closer to mandating the installation of an emergency call system in all new cars and smaller commercial vehicles.

Earlier this week MEPs voted to require all new car models to have its eCall system installed from 31st March 2018. They’d originally hoped to mandate eCall from 2015.

Three UK now has more than 3 million customers on 4G

Three UK says 3.1 million of its customers are now using 4G services, just 10 months after the network launched its LTE technology.

That’s over a third of Three’s 8 million customers.

Acer launches 4G dual-SIM tablet with voice call functionality

Acer has officially launched a new 4G LTE-capable tablet that also offers dual-SIM capability and the ability to make voice calls.

It’s called the Iconia Talk S and is the company’s first 4G tablet.

Survey: companies are missing out on using mobile to make their customers feel cared for

Application-to-person mobile messaging specialist Mblox has published its findings from a survey of customers and businesses conducted by Millward Brown Digital. It looked at how well companies felt they were engaging with their customers via mobile devices - and how well customers felt they were being engaged with by brands.

The survey revealed a ‘care gap’ in business-to-consumer interactions: 67% of companies thought consumers were satisfied with their current methods of mobile engagement, yet only 47% of consumers said they were happy with it.
