Telefonica UK and Chargemaster plc have announced a partnership that’ll see O2 SIM cards used in the machine-to-machine technology connecting Chargemaster’s UK-wide network of electric vehicle charging points.
Chargemaster recently announced a national charging network called POLAR. It’s the UK’s largest private sector-funded network, with around 4,000 electric vehicle charging bays due to be installed in towns and cities across the UK by the end of 2012.

O2 UK has announced plans to test a new service called O2 Connect. A number of consumer and business customers, along with attendees at Wired 2011, will be invited to join the trial.
O2 Connect will let customers with an iPhone or Android smartphone make UK calls and send text messages over WiFi using their regular mobile number.
O2 Recycle, the two-year-old project that pays customers for old phones and raises money for charity, has launched a week-long challenge to set a new world record.
The O2-supported scheme is asking mobile phone users to visit their nearest O2 store from 7th to 13th October 2011 and donate an old mobile phone.

Twitter is expanding its text message ‘tweeting’ service to allow photos via MMS.
Although Orange UK first introduced the feature via its Snapshot site in November 2009, Twitter is now making the feature available itself on a number of networks worldwide.
