Mobile payment provider iZettle has continued its European expansion by launching in the Netherlands.
The company’s service became available in the UK two years ago and is also offered in Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

Apple has made it possible for software developers to start creating applications that interact with its forthcoming Apple Watch, which is expected to go on sale early next year.
The company’s new WatchKit software will offer developers the ability to create watch-centric apps and link other apps to the watch without having a physical device to work with.

A video advertisement from Telefonica-owned UK MVNO giffgaff was likely to cause serious or widespread offence, according to a ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority.
The video clip was promoted via giffgaff’s Twitter account, which was also available via an embedded feed on the giffgaff website. As well as showing a link to the video clip, the tweet said “The situations in our new videos are, well, awkward. #NSFW #alltheboss”.

Jolla Tablet will run the Android-friendly Sailfish OS and is expected around May 2015
Finnish smartphone manufacturer Jolla is now planning to produce its own tablet device.
The Jolla Tablet is being offered via crowd-funding site Indiegogo, with shipments anticipated in the second quarter of 2015.

The dramatic growth in smartphones running the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) platform or other ‘forked’ versions of Android is expected to slow next year, according to a report from ABI Research.
Devices that run forked or AOSP versions of Android don’t have direct access to the Google Play app store, unlike those produced by the Open Handset Alliance.
