The latest US retail figures from the IBM Retail Online Economic Indicator show some dramatic increases in online retailing.
In particular, the first quarter of 2012 saw mobile commerce account for 13.3% of all online retail sales, almost double the 7% figure from Q1 2011.

Everything Everywhere has launched the UK’s first live 4G mobile broadband trial in the north of England.
It’s centred on the village of Threlkeld in Cumbria and will involve up to 50 local residents.

Juniper Research has calculated that revenue from mobile adult subscriptions will reach nearly $1 billion by 2015.
Although some of the growth will result from the increasing number of smartphone and tablet users, an increase in the average spend per user is also expected.

The latest quarterly financial results from Everything Everywhere reveal that 71% of ‘pay monthly’ customers now have smartphones; an increase of 14 percentage points from the Q1 2011 figure of 57%.
An increase of 151,000 post-pay customers since the previous quarter, along with a drop of 494,000 prepay users, means that 49% of customers on Orange and T-Mobile UK networks currently have a post-pay contract.

Nokia has filed legal claims in the USA and Germany alleging that products from HTC, RIM and Viewsonic infringe a number of its patents.
The legal action includes a complaint to the US International Trade Commission against HTC, patent cases against HTC and Viewsonic in the USA, and court cases against all three companies in Germany.
