Visa Europe mobile wallet to hit the UK this autumn

Visa Europe says its new online digital wallet service, V.me by Visa, will be available to a select group of consumers in the UK, Spain and France from autumn this year. Further details, including information about participating banks and retailers, will be announced soon.

V.me by Visa will let consumers add several different credit/debit cards to their digital wallet and then access the service via PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

The news is pretty much as we’ve heard before; this time it’s the UK Health Protection Agency’s independent Advisory Group on Non-Ionising Radiation telling us there’s no convincing evidence that mobile phone technologies cause adverse effects on human health – but longer-term research is still needed.

Amazon.com announces quarterly figures as Kindle Fire becomes best-selling Android tablet

Amazon.com has announced financial results for the first quarter of its current financial year. Net sales were up 34% year-on-year to $13.18 billion, although net income was down by 35% to $130 million.

The next quarter is expected to see a similar pattern as sales increase but profits fall.
