Ambiance Technology, based in the Netherlands, says it's the first company in Europe to launch a consumer 3G tablet computer operated by the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The new AT-Tablet has a 10-inch screen, an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz chip, a 3G SIM card slot, WiFi, a 160GB hard drive and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It's expected to go on sale next month.

Today's the official launch of Windows Phone 7, the Microsoft mobile operating system that was announced in February. The company says Windows Phone 7 devices will go on sale from 21st October in "select European and Asian markets", with the USA seeing WP7 smartphones from 8th November on AT&T. In total, more than 60 mobile operators in over 30 countries have committed to offering Windows Phones.

After months of speculation following an announcement at Mobile World Congress, Microsoft has confirmed that its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system will be launched on Monday 11th October 2010. It's holding the 'Windows Phone 7 Worldwide Launch Event' in New York at 3.00pm local time (8pm UK time).

Andy Lees, senior vice president of Microsoft's Mobile Communications business, has been promoted to president by company CEO Steve Ballmer. He'd been running the department since earlier this year after Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division, announced his retirement plans.
