Telefonica promises customers a year's free Evernote Premium subscription

Telefónica Digital and note-taking service Evernote have announced a partnership that’ll see customers of participating Telefónica operating businesses receiving a one-year Evernote Premium account.

The deal, which could benefit more than 250 million customers, has been launched in Brazil.

Reporting online abuse could become unmanageable, warns Mobile Data Association

The Mobile Data Association, which is the longest-established mobile trade association in the UK, says the process of reporting online abuse to the relevant authorities is in danger of becoming fundamentally unmanageable.

It’s warning that the increasing number of systems and mechanisms for reporting abuse, bullying and other criminal activity could result in an environment that is inadequate and fragmented.

London shuts down recycling bins that also monitor passing smartphone users

The City of London Corporation has asked Renew London to remove some of its information pods from the Square Mile.

A dozen of the pods, which had advertising screens and also acted as recycling bins, were able to monitor footfall by tracking the unique MAC address of WiFi-connected phones and tablets when people passed.

HTC chooses Robert Downey Jr as the face of its new marketing campaign

HTC has announced a new marketing campaign that it’s calling ‘Change’. As part of what it’s describing as “its most powerful marketing campaign to date”, the manufacturer has signed actor Robert Downey Jr on a two-year deal.

The first new HTC ad will be shown on YouTube later this week.

The price of a mobile phone call in Europe can vary by 774%

Although the European Union has created a ‘single market’, Europe’s mobile phone users aren’t seeing the benefits they might expect.

That’s the opinion of European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes, who has been talking about the results of a study into phone call costs.
