Sony has announced two smartphone accessories that look like camera lenses.
Each is actually a separate camera that’ll link to compatible Android and iOS smartphones via WiFi and Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile application. There are even smartphone mounting kits for some handsets, although the ‘lens’ can also be used at a distance from the phone.

After months of rumours, the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch has been announced at IFA 2013.
It’s designed to work as a companion to high-spec Samsung smartphones, notifying users about calls, texts, emails and other messages.

Sony has announced a new flagship smartphone at the IFA 2013 electronics trade show today.
The Sony Xperia Z1 is a waterproof and dustproof handset with a 5-inch screen and a 20.7 megapixel image sensor. It’ll run Android on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2 GHz processor.

Google has announced that the next version of its Android mobile operating system - Android v4.4 - will be known as Android KitKat.
Previous rumours had focussed on ‘Key Lime Pie’ as being the favoured name. All Android versions are named after desserts and confectionary.
