Iridium Communications says it’s reached 500,000 subscribers for its satellite voice and data services worldwide. Around 10% of these are US Government workers.
It says recent growth has been helped by the machine-to-machine data market, with M2M data subscribers representing 32% of commercial subscribers and 21% of government subscribers.

A new report from research2guidance shows that the average Android application has generated $2,437 since being published.
However, this cumulative revenue figure varied dramatically between categories, with the average paid Weather app having generated $21,000 but the average multimedia app only making $300. The average selling price of a chargeable app was $3.13.

Dolby Laboratories says Research in Motion has agreed to license Dolby’s audio technologies for its devices.
As a result, Dolby has withdrawn the two patent infringement lawsuits it had filed against RIM earlier this year.

Mobile News reports that LG has appointed Warren Lewis as its UK head of mobile.
He’s spent the last four years leading the company’s IT solutions business within LG Electronics, most recently as Commercial Director.
