HP has revealed webOS 2.0, the most significant update to the company's OS since it was launched last year. The first webOS 2.0 device will be the 1GHz Palm Pre 2 smartphone, which will be available from Friday in France. It's scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada within the next few months.

The number of mobile machine-to-machine connections is expected to exceed last year's forecast, according to ABI Research. It it's raised its prediction of about 225 million connections worldwide by 2014 to 232.5 million, with over 297 million M2M connections anticipated in 2015.

Apple has published its financial results for the quarter that ended 25th September 2010. Revenue hit a record $20.34 billion, with net quarterly profit at $4.31 billion. 57% of this revenue came from international sales.

And now Motorola asks a judge to invalidate the anti-Android patents that Apple is using against HTC. Oh, and as we mentioned recently, Motorola is taking its own legal action against Apple.

Virgin Media's online and mobile TV player appears to have moved out of beta. Massachusetts-based SeaChange International has announced that the Virgin Media Player is now live and using SeaChange's multi-screen technology.
