Today's the official launch of Windows Phone 7, the Microsoft mobile operating system that was announced in February. The company says Windows Phone 7 devices will go on sale from 21st October in "select European and Asian markets", with the USA seeing WP7 smartphones from 8th November on AT&T. In total, more than 60 mobile operators in over 30 countries have committed to offering Windows Phones.

is planning to release a 'transactional' version of its mobile app later this month, enabling consumers to buy train tickets via their mobile phones. The current application, which is only available for the iPhone and other iOS devices, will be updated – and new versions will be produced for Android, BlackBerry, Nokia and other handsets.
