Google has introduced two new features for the ‘Froyo’ Android 2.2 mobile operating system today. It’s added a new Chrome to Phone extension to its desktop Chrome web browser that synchronises information - a web page, map, YouTube video, selected phone number or text - to an Android device.

Research company Gartner says worldwide mobile device sales reached 325.6 million units in the second quarter of 2010, a 13.8% increase year-on-year. 19% of all those sales were smartphones, up 50.5% from Q2 2009.

Vodafone has promised smartphone owners an 'open market version' of the Android 2.2 'Froyo' operating system after widespread complaints when the previous version was customised with Vodafone's own services.

Industry veteran Ian Driver, who joined Virgin Media in March 2008 and was appointed as director of indirect distribution in 2009, is leaving the company. He's said to be looking for challenges outside the company, according to a report in Mobile News.
