Research from comScore into mobile gaming behaviour across France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom has shown that 42% of smartphone users across these ‘EU5’ countries claim to have played a game on their device in February 2012.
That’s 46.4 million people; a 55% increase over the past year.

Cambridge-based technology business Neul has launched the world’s first city-wide ‘white space’ network.
White space refers to unused and underused parts of the wireless spectrum, such as spare TV channels and unlicensed radio bands.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has launched the Bluetooth Developer Portal today, providing a resource to help developers and engineers. Available resources include training tools, interactive forums and quick-start guides.
In addition, the Bluetooth SIG is also offering a series of free Bluetooth developer webinars from the end of this month.

Good Technology, which provides a number of services to help businesses manage their mobile communications, has published its device activation report for the first quarter of 2012.
The report looks at the smartphones and tablet devices activated amongst Good’s enterprise customers, including company-owned handsets and ‘bring your own device’ equipment supplied by individual users.

O2 UK has announced a new mobile payment initiative using the O2 Wallet brand. It’s a mobile application that allows customers to send money from an existing debit or credit card to individuals or to retailers.
NFC payments are expected to be added as an option in the future.
