Ofcom research shows the proportion of UK children with mobile phones has dropped

UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has published a new report entitled ‘Children and Parents: Media Use and Attitudes’.

It shows how young people are consuming media, which devices they’re using and how their parents are reacting.

UK 'white space' wireless trial will include traffic management, free WiFi and HD TV

Ofcom has announced the organisations that’ll take part in its trial of ‘white space’ wireless technology. The so-called ‘white spaces’ are temporarily unused gaps in the digital terrestrial TV spectrum.

Technology using these spaces won’t need a licence but will been to check that the frequency is unused before starting transmission.

Luxury smartphone manufacturer Vertu launches its second Android handset

British-based luxury handset manufacturer Vertu has released a new smartphone called the Constellation.

It’s the company’s second Android phone, following the Ti that was announced in February.

Smartphones have become an essential parenting tool for mobile mums

Online parenting site BabyCentre has published a survey that shows over half of all mums considered their smartphone to be an ‘essential tool’ to help with parenting.

Almost three in five said it helped to reduce the isolation of new motherhood, while 40% described their mobile device as a ‘backup brain’.
