ExclusiveTelefonica plans new Digital business unit for London

Telefónica has announced three significant changes to its organisational structure.

It’s setting up a new business unit called Telefónica Digital. Matthew Key, who joined O2 in 2002 and had previously been in charge of Telefónica Europe, will run the unit. It’ll be based in London with offices in Madrid, Sao Paulo, Silicon Valley and a number of locations in Asia. Around 2,500 staff will be drawn from Telefonica and its associated businesses.

It’s been dropped from 25 metres - around ten stories - onto concrete without any operational damage, pushing the 2008 JCB Toughphone out of the record book. A later attempt to reach 30 metres proved unsuccessful.

ExclusiveCompetition for places on the UK Trade and Investment stand at Mobile World Congress 2012

The ICT Knowledge Transfer Network in association with UK Trade & Investment has announced a competition that’s offering a free showcase at next year’s Mobile World Congress for new mobile or wireless products that originate in the UK.

The competition, which is open to UK-based SMEs with an innovative new mobile/wireless solution or product, will see a small number of winners taking their place on the UKTI stand at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.
