Advertising-funded virtual network Samba Mobile has closed down in the UK… just a month after rival MVNO Ovivo Mobile ceased trading.

Samba Mobile was formed in 2010 and launched its mobile network in 2012.

There's plenty of variety in The Fonecast this week. We start the podcast with news of MeeGo's resurrection by Finnish smartphone company Jolla before talking about a mobile network that’s giving away mobile data whenever its customers watch video advertisements.

A new UK virtual mobile network called Samba Mobile is promising a mobile broadband service without any running costs.

Customers pay £2.99 for a SIM card plus £2.00 post & packing and then watch video ads to ‘top up’ their account with credit. A 3G ‘dongle’ will be available in the future.
