ExclusivePenalty increased to £100 for holding a mobile phone when driving

The fixed penalty for using a hand-held mobile phone when driving in the UK has increased from £60 to £100 today. As before, there’ll also be three points added to the driver’s licence.

This follows a consultation in June last year and a government announcement about the changes two months ago.

ExclusiveTelefonica UK and Arqiva are chosen to provide smart meter communications for the UK

Telefónica UK has been chosen as one of the preferred communications service providers for the UK’s smart meter roll-out. Subject to contract, it’ll provide communications services across the Centre and South regions in a deal worth £1.5 billion over 15 years.

The provider for the North region is infrastructure company Arqiva, with a deal worth £625 million over 15 years.
