Here’s a statement that’ll come as no surprise to anyone who works in the UK mobile industry.
For many people, their mobile phone isn’t just a communication device. It’s a personal statement.
Of course it is. Why else can you buy a gold-plated iPhone, a diamante-encrusted Blackberry or a Samsung Galaxy SIII in colours “inspired by the Earth’s richest materials”?

O2 Media, the O2 UK network’s mobile advertising and marketing business, has become part of the Weve partnership.
It was set up in 2009 to help big brands advertise to O2 customers.

Last year O2 UK introduced a smartphone leasing service called O2 Lease.
Vodafone has now joined the consumer leasing market with ‘Red Hot’, which also offers a phone, tariff and insurance for a single monthly payment.

Network upgrades delivering 3G mobile data speeds of 20Mbps
Three, the Hutchison 3G network in the UK, says it’s added more than 1.04 million customers in the past 12 months. It now has 8.8 million UK customers, with 301,000 joining in the last quarter alone.
The network is also deploying DC-HSDPA technology to upgrade its network and is increasing the speed of its backhaul connection to the internet.
