Tonight Sony Ericsson announced an impressive four new Xperia handsets based on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and the Bravia graphics engine more commonly found in TVs. I got hands-on with the much anticipated Play, and its 3 siblings Neo, Pro and Arc. Here's what I thought.

Sony Ericsson has released a promotional video for its forthcoming Xperia Play smartphone - hailed by some as the company’s ‘PlayStation Phone’ - and says the device will be launched officially on the evening of Sunday 13th February.
As well as having PlayStation-style slide-out controls, the device is being promoted as ‘PlayStation Certified’ and is expected to run version 2.3 of Android.

Sony says it's planning a 'PlayStation Suite' that'll offer gaming on Android smartphones and tablets. Games will be available from a dedicated PlayStation Store for Android devices.
The company also revealed a new 3G-connected and GPS-enabled next-generation PlayStation Portable (PSP) device, which it referred to as NGP.

Sony Ericsson has published financial results for the fourth quarter and the full year of 2010.
It notes that it had four consecutive quarters of profitability during 2010 and has now shipped over 9 million Android-based Xperia smartphones.

Sony Ericsson has revealed a new smartphone to join its Xperia range. The Xperia arc will run Android v2.3, includes an 8.1 megapixel camera, is just 8.7mm deep at its thinnest part and has an extra-wide 4.2-inch screen.
