By 2017, almost a third of network operator revenue will come from 4G services

More than $340 billion (£219 billion) will be generated worldwide by 4G LTE services in 2017, compared to just over $75 billion this year.

That’s approximately 31% of total service revenues from all 2G, 3G and 4G mobile services, according to a new report from Juniper Research.

Gartner figures show Samsung, Nokia and Apple as top mobile manufacturers in 2012

Last month a number of research companies published their estimates for mobile phone shipments in 2012.

Gartner is the latest to join in, noting that its figures showed total worldwide mobile phone sales dropping by 1.7% year-on-year to 1.75 billion units in 2012.

Those are some of the findings from a survey sponsored by mobile broadband specialist Tekelec.

Apple has released a new update to its mobile operating system.

It says the iOS 6.1.1 update “fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S”.
