Former Sony Ericsson MD joins Everything Everywhere

Everything Everywhere says Nathan Vautier will join the company next month as Director of Indirect Sales for the Orange and T-Mobile brands.

He’ll report to Marc Allera, the company’s Chief Sales Officer.

EC opens investigation into Vodafone, Telefonica and Everything Everywhere's mobile commerce plans

The European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation into Vodafone, Telefónica and Everything Everywhere’s plans to create a UK-based mobile commerce joint venture.

The scheme, which was announced in June last year and has been nicknamed ‘Project Oscar, will now be investigated to see whether it would reduce effective competition in the European Economic Area. A decision will be made by the end of August.

Everything Everywhere expected to close 31 stores and cut 95 jobs

Everything Everywhere is planning to close a combination of 31 Orange and T-Mobile stores in the UK, replacing them with shops that sell both mobile networks. As a result, 28 retail management roles are expected to be lost, although Everything Everywhere says it’ll be looking to redeploy people where possible.

In addition, a head office reorganisation will see a further 67 retail roles cut. However, the company also says 50 new office-based roles will be created.

Orange partners with Sony Mobile for UEFA Euro 2012 tournament

Orange has announced a partnership with Sony Mobile Communications for the UEFA Euro 2012 football tournament. The two companies plan to offer a combination of online competitions, in-store promotions, and live events in the 11 European countries served by Orange.

Some elements will be just for Orange customers, while others - including an Orange Supporters’ Cup with prizes including match tickets and smartphones - will be available to anyone.

Our friends at 51Degrees.mobi revealed left-handed device detection, Google prepared to run mobile ads on phones with dials, Phones 4U introduced Gnomes 4U femtocells, Nokia made a Windows Phone device out of ice… and so on.
