Voice over IP service JAJAH – bought by Telefonica last year – has released a mobile application that lets Facebook users call their friends directly with a single click.

Mobile messaging service Nimbuzz will no longer support Skype messaging and calls from the end of this month.
In a statement, Nimbuzz said "Skype asked us to remove support for their service", adding "Skype’s decision to ask us to stop supporting their service seems to be part of a strategy to disconnect all open third party support."

The Qualcomm Innovation Center – the part of Qualcomm that focuses on mobile open source software – has acquired iSkoot Technologies. iSkoot makes it easier for mobile manufacturers and network operators to put social networks and internet services on mobile handsets while cutting the amount of data consumed.

Internet communications company Skype has appointed Tony Bates, Senior Vice President of Cisco, as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. Josh Silverman, the outgoing CEO, joined Skype from eBay's Shopping.com business in early 2008.

Dublin-based mobile messaging company Openmind Networks has launched a VoIP service that can be integrated with a customer's existing mobile phone number. The service, called Portico, is being deployed by a European carrier using their own brand (which is probably why Openmind isn't naming names).
