Elsewhere, LG revealed two new Android-powered handsets; the LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Chic. Both run Android 'Froyo' version 2.2; the Optimus One will arrive in Europe from October, while the Optimus Chic will follow in November.

Less than six months after launching its Android application, mobile browser company Skyfire says over one million consumers have downloaded the Skyfire mobile browser to their Android phones. Skyfire is currently in the top 0.02% of all products in the Android Marketplace.

UK-based e-commerce company Gate2Shop has announced a partnership with mobile payment provider mopay. It means that customers who don't have or don't want to use credit cards and bank accounts can make online payments at Gate2Shop-equipped retailers via their mobile phones. As a result, Gate2Shop partners in over 60 countries can now add mobile payments to their other payment options.

Last week's IQ2010 event in London saw the UK appearance of Qualcomm's Snapdragon Mobile Development Platform (MDP). This is a Qualcomm-branded mobile phone that'll be available to buy later this year, either with the Android OS or with the Brew Mobile Platform.
