Ofcom reveals customer service satisfaction levels for mobile and fixed-line comms

Ofcom has published new research showing the highest-rated and lowest-rated communications providers for customer service.

It notes that overall satisfaction is higher with mobile (69%) and pay TV (68%) than it is with fixed broadband (58%) and fixed-line (61%) telephone services.

No Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone handset for O2 UK

Tech news site The Inquirer has confirmed with Nokia that it’s only supplying the Lumia 800 smartphone to the Orange, T-Mobile, Three and Vodafone networks in the UK.

The Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U will be selling the device SIM-free and on contracts.

Everything Everywhere enables 3G data roaming for Orange and T-Mobile UK

Everything Everywhere is enabling UK customers on Orange and T-Mobile to use the 3G signal from either network.

It follows what the company called the ‘big switch-on’ last year, which allowed Orange and T-Mobile customers to to make calls and send texts using the other network.

T-Mobile internet deal isn't truly unlimited, rules ASA

T-Mobile’s online, press and poster campaign that described its inclusive data deals as ‘truly unlimited internet’ have been blocked by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority.

Each of the advertisements talked about ‘truly unlimited internet’ but contained terms & conditions that said the mobile phone couldn’t be used for ‘tethering’ as a modem, for peer-to-peer file sharing or for making VoIP telephone calls.

US mobile payment venture gets new supporters

Isis, the US-based mobile commerce venture announced last November by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has acquired a number of new supporters.

HTC, LG, Motorola Mobility, RIM, Samsung Mobile and Sony Ericsson all say they’ll be introducing NFC-enabled mobile devices compatible with the Isis technology standards. In addition, Isis is working with DeviceFidelity to add NFC functionality to other mobile devices.
