French communications giant Orange has teamed up with marketing and media specialist Havas Media to create a new Los Angeles-based research and business development centre called SiliWood.

It’ll look at opportunities and innovation with a particular focus on media, content, technology and data science.

Mobile revenue is expected to decline for the first time ever within five years

New research from analyst firm Ovum predicts that global mobile revenue will drop in 2018 for the first time in the history of the mobile industry.

The number of new connections is still increasing, although figures are expected to rise by a compound annual growth rate of less than 4% between 2012 and 2018.

Mobile security company Lookout gets investment from Deutsche Telekom and Qualcomm

Mobile security specialist Lookout has arranged $55 million of strategic financing.

Investors included Deutsche Telekom and Qualcomm Ventures as well as venture capital firms Greylock Partners and Mithril Capital Management, along with current investors Accel Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

T-Mobile USA removes data roaming charges for over 100 countries

T-Mobile US is going to start offering mobile internet access and text messaging in more than 100 countries at no extra charge.

The news follows a recent decision by Three UK to drop roaming charges in seven countries.
