Fashion designer Jil Sander has created her own mobile phone, called simply the ‘Jil Sander Mobile’. It’s been built by LG and runs ‘Mango’ version 7.5 of the Windows Phone operating system.
The device will be available in the UK as well as in Austria, France, Italy and Germany.

Samsung Electronics has launched a new ‘Premium Apps Store’ in the UK for Android devices.
The service will operate in addition to the free applications available from www.samsungapps.com, enabling UK customers to buy apps via their mobile phones or by using the Samsung Kies software on a desktop or laptop PC.

Ofcom is reported to be delaying its plans to auction radio spectrum that could be used for 4G mobile phone services.
The auction was originally planned for earlier this year but is now unlikely to take place until late 2012.

Voice technology company Nuance has acquired Swype, which launched its simplified on-screen text input service three years ago.
Swype was founded by Cliff Kushler and Randy Marsden.

Analyst firm Berg Insight says the number of mobile application downloads worldwide will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 56.6% between 2010 and 2015 to reach 98 billion.
In addition, ‘direct’ app store revenue from paid applications, in-app purchases and subscription services will grow at a CAGR of 40.7% from €1.6 billion last year to €8.8 billion in 2015.
