HTC Corporation has acquired Dashwire, a US-based company that makes the 'Dashworks' platform to help users set up their smartphones and access mobile content across multiple devices.
Dashwire will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of HTC.

Second quarter results from HTC show revenue of NT$ 124.4 billion (£2.63 billion), up 104% year-on-year.
Handset shipments were up 124% from the same period in 2010 to 12.1 million.

103 million smartphones were shipped in Q2 2011 according to ABI Research. That's a 62% growth on the same period last year and a 2.2% increase on last quarter.
It notes that Nokia's smartphone market share has fallen from 38% last year and 24% last quarter to 16% in Q2 2011, leaving it in third place when it comes to shipments.
