PC and mobile manufacturer Acer has announced plans to launch AcerCloud, a secure online service that’ll let users share multimedia and data files between PC and smartphones - even when the main PC is in standby or hibernation mode.
Acer’s ‘Always Connect’ technology will wake a hibernating PC through WiFi, enabling media to be retrieved via a mobile device.

Motorola Mobility has announced preliminary results for the fourth quarter of 2011, with full financial results due on 26th January 2012.
It says it shipped around 10.5 million mobile devices in the quarter, of which approximately 5.3 million were smartphones.

ABI Research says mobile video usage is expected to grow dramatically during the next five years - but it won’t become the ‘new voice’.
Video telephony, video sharing and video messaging services over mobile networks were used by less than 47 million consumers at the end of last year. However, usage is expected to grow eight-fold to reach 390 million users in 2016.
