The European Parliament has moved closer to mandating the installation of an emergency call system in all new cars and smaller commercial vehicles.
Earlier this week MEPs voted to require all new car models to have its eCall system installed from 31st March 2018. They’d originally hoped to mandate eCall from 2015.

The GSMA has published a response to the UK government’s suggestion that ‘national roaming’ could be mandated to reduce areas of poor mobile phone coverage.
A consultation period was launched on 5th November and ended yesterday.

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld complaints about a promotional message from UK virtual network Lycamobile.
A link on Lycamobile’s web site referred to “Unlimited Data, now with 4G”, while an advertisement on the site said “£15 per month ... unlimited data now with 4G”.

A recent court filing appears to show Google and the Rockstar patent licensing business settling their lawsuit.
Rockstar is a consortium of companies that includes Apple, BlackBerry, Ericsson, Microsoft, and Sony. It acquired thousands of former Nortel Network Corp patents in 2011, paying $4.5 billion.

A video advertisement from Telefonica-owned UK MVNO giffgaff was likely to cause serious or widespread offence, according to a ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority.
The video clip was promoted via giffgaff’s Twitter account, which was also available via an embedded feed on the giffgaff website. As well as showing a link to the video clip, the tweet said “The situations in our new videos are, well, awkward. #NSFW #alltheboss”.
