Fon and mopay promise simpler mobile access to WiFi connections

Mobile payment solution provider mopay has announced a global partnership with Fon, which describes itself as the world's largest WiFi network.

Fon is enabling mopay mobile payments, making it easier for smartphone and tablet users to pay for access to a Fon hotspot. Customers will be able to get WiFi access simply by providing their mobile phone number and adding the Fon cost to their mobile account.

Five men jailed for over 37 years in mobile phone VAT fraud

Five men from London, Berkshire and Gloucester have been jailed this week for a total of 37½ years after failing to pay £140 million tax in a 'missing trader' VAT fraud. The investigation began in October 2005 and resulted in a series of court cases that started last December.

Four of the men each set up their own limited company, most of which only traded for a few weeks, while the fifth dealt with administration.

Another new tablet for Samsung

Samsung's unveiled a new tablet at this week's CTIA Wireless show in the United States. Just over a month ago it announced the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Barcelona... and it's now added to the range with the Galaxy Tab 8.9. (The figures refer to the screen size in inches).

In fact, a closer look reveals that the Tab 10.1 has changed since Barcelona.
