A majority share in Phones 4U has been sold to private equity firm BC Partners by owners Providence Equity Partners. Control of the UK retail chain had been bought by Providence from founder John Caudwell in 2006.
Although the deal needs regulatory approval, it’s expected to be finalised next month.

The LG Optimus 3D will launch exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy this spring. It’ll later be available to other UK retailers.
The phone, which was announced at Mobile World Congress in February, has an auto-stereoscopic 4.3-inch display that avoids the need for 3D glasses.

Chinese telecoms company ZTE Corporation has announced its 2010 annual results today. Revenue was up 21% year-on-year, with net profit up over 32%.
Revenue from international operations has now grown to account for the majority (54%) of ZTE’s total operating revenue.

Nokia produced the largest number of smartphones last year - but Apple generated more revenue from the smartphone market. That's the conclusion of a new report from Strategy Analytics.
It's calculated that the smartphone market was worth a total of $99 billion in 2010, almost double the 2009 figure.
