UK mobile app downloads generated £280 million last year

Mobile research company research2guidance says revenue from UK mobile application downloads reached £280 million in 2010. It's calculated that smartphone users in the UK downloaded over 860 million apps last year, with paid-for apps accounting for 105 million downloads (just over 12%).

The company says 8% of the world's total app downloads currently take place in the UK.

BOLT mobile browser reaches 20 million downloads in two years

The BOLT mobile browser, which was launched by Bitstream in February 2009, has now has been downloaded more than 20 million times.

In addition, Bitstream says BOLT users have streamed more than 130 million minutes of video and viewed nearly 2.3 billion web pages in the past two years.

O2 More now has two million opted-in mobile customers

O2 Media - the mobile advertising part of O2 - says its O2 More 'personalised media service' now has two million customers. It launched less than 1½ years ago in late 2009.

The O2 More service combines O2's own customer data with additional information provided by participating consumers. As a result, O2 More can offer personalised and even location-based advertising campaigns to its partners.
