The first-ever GSMA Band App Audition has the backing of Muse, Faithless, Metric and Eliza Doolittle. It’s looking for innovative mobile app concepts that’ll help the artists to engage with their fans throughout the world.

A convicted VAT fraudster has been sentenced to an extra nine years in jail for failing to repay £40 million of his criminal profits. Emmanuel Hening, a dual French/Belgian national, was jailed for 15 years in 2006 for masterminding a £54 million ‘missing trader’ or ‘carousel’ mobile phone fraud.

The GSMA says the city that hosts the Mobile World Congress from 2013 to 2017 – currently a choice between Amsterdam, Barcelona, Cologne, Milan, Munich and Paris – will also be the GSMA’s “Mobile World Capital”. This concept extends beyond the Mobile World Congress trade event to include a permanent technology centre and a cultural festival in the chosen city.
