Telecoms research company IDATE says the world market for femtocells is ready for take-off. The compound annual growth rate for femtocell sales between 2010 and 2014 is expected to be 159%. This means 23 million femtocells will be shipped worldwide in 2014, making the total market worth 931 million Euro (around £786 million).

We're sad to report that Martin King, founder of Tegic Communications and co-inventor of the T9 ('text on nine keys') predictive text system, has died. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma five years ago.

Orange has launched the first in a series of Orange-branded Android devices for the UK. It's called the 'San Francisco' and will cost £99 on a 'pay as you go' tariff. Alternatively, the handset is available on 'pay monthly' contracts.

HP and Oracle have resolved their legal action following the move of former HP CEO Mark Hurd to Oracle. In addition, they've reaffirmed their long-term partnership - which is responsible for over 140,000 shared customers.

Microsoft says it's expanding Zune, its digital entertainment service, into more than 20 countries – including the UK. Zune's music and video services will be available on Windows-based PCs, on Windows Phone 7 handsets and on the Xbox gaming console later this year.
