Network-connected devices expected to outnumber people two-to-one within 5 years

The latest Visual Networking Index Forecast from Cisco expects 15 billion network-connected devices by 2015. That's more than two connections for each person on earth.

The study also anticipates global internet traffic quadrupling by 2015 to 966 billion gigabytes per year.

MediaTek deal means Yahoo services will be built into feature phones

Chip maker MediaTek has announced a partnership with Yahoo! that'll see Yahoo! services embedded in MediaTek's mobile platform solutions.

It means that Yahoo! Messenger, News, Finance, Weather, Mail and Flickr can all be pre-loaded on new smartphones and feature phones.

UK is missing out on mobile shopping, says eBay

Research from online marketplace eBay reckons that coverage problems, poor connections and slow data speeds are costing UK retailers over £1 billion from mobile shopping.

It's asking UK regulator Ofcom to make sure m-commerce is considered and consumer frustrations are taken into account when 4G licences are auctioned.

Ofcom accredits new mobile price comparison website

UK mobile price comparison website Mobilife has been awarded the Ofcom price accreditation logo.

Mobilife, which analyses previous bills to find the best 'pay monthly' contract deal, has been shown to provide information that's accessible, accurate, transparent, comprehensive and up to date. It's only the second mobile-focussed site to be awarded Ofcom accreditation for its price comparison calculator.
