Alcatel One Touch is an official partner for the Tour de France

The Alcatel One Touch brand, owned by TCL Communication, has signed a three-year partnership with Amaury Sport Organisation for the Tour de France and a number of other major cycling events.

It makes Alcatel one of the official partners for the cycling competition in 2011, 2012 and the 100th Tour de France in 2013.

New Android smartphones from Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson has added two new Android-powered smartphones to its Xperia range. Both devices will run Android v2.3 when they arrive in the autumn.

The aluminium-framed Xperia ray, which has a 3.3-inch screen and is less than 1cm thick, includes a 8.1-megapixel camera and 1GHz processor.

Location-sharing app Glympse reaches 1 million users and raises more funding

Glympse, which launched its location-sharing app as a public beta two years ago, says it's just passed 1 million users and has also raised $7.5 million in funding.

Glympse lets users share their location for a specified period, allowing friends to see where they are or to follow real-time movements.

New multi-million pound funding for Shazam

London-based mobile music recognition service Shazam has raised $32 million in new funding. The money will be used to help the company grow and develop its mobile applications.

Shazam is approaching 150 million users worldwide and is on course to achieve 250 million users within two years.

Google Maps, Yahoo Weather and Facebook are UK's favourite mobile apps

The GSMA and comScore have just released data showing how UK mobile consumers use mobile applications. The data has been collected in partnership with mobile networks and is the latest in the GSMA Mobile Media Metrics series of reports.

Overall, almost 8.8 million UK mobile phone owners - 40% of the UK's mobile internet users - accessed an app that connected to the internet during April 2011.
