There was big news from the United States this week as Deutsche Telekom decided to sell T-Mobile USA to AT&T. Was it a shotgun wedding or is this a carefully calculated deal designed to benefit consumers? Time will tell – assuming, of course, the merger gets approved by the US regulator.

London Underground is inviting telecoms companies to tender for providing public WiFi service across its network by June 2012. It follows last year's trial of WiFi technology at Charing Cross tube station.
The winning bidder will be given the go-ahead by the end of this year, which means the network could be in place for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Multiplatform mobility company Good Technology has enhanced its Good for Enterprise product to include a secure web browser. It means that mobile users can now access intranets and other web-enabled enterprise applications without worrying about the security of the information they're sending and receiving.
Good for Enterprise already offers secure email access across a range of mobile operating systems, along with 'remote control' of device functionality by IT administrators.
