ExclusiveTwitter client HootSuite now available as an iPhone app

Popular desktop Twitter client HootSuite is now available as an iPhone application with a special '33% off' launch price of £1.19 for the first week. Unlike many other Twitter services, HootSuite lets you view statistics, lets you schedule tweets in advance – and has its own ow.ly URL shortener. It's also capable of managing multiple Twitter accounts although the iPhone app - in contrast to the desktop version – doesn't currently integrate other social networking accounts.

ExclusiveOrange creates its own social networking application

Orange has launched a beta version of ON, a mobile social networking service that links with other social networks and instant messaging services.

The ON service – which runs as a free application on selected handsets across all networks – can also control the user's mobile phone so that it only rings for certain people. (For example, you could only accept weekend calls from your friends). It's currently available for Android devices, with versions for iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile phones expected next year.

ExclusiveOfcom sets out its plans for the next year

UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has published a draft version of its annual plan for the 12 months from 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011. The final version will be published next year.

Most of its aims are directly connected with the mobile industry; these include making progress on mobile phone 'not-spots'...
