Taiwan-based Asustek Computer Inc - better known as ASUS - has revealed the latest incarnation of its PadFone device.
The original PadFone was announced in May last year, combining an Android smartphone with a dockable tablet that transferred the phone’s functions onto a larger screen.

The sale of UK-based luxury mobile phone company Vertu has now been completed, with private equity fund EQT VI taking control of the business from Nokia.
Around 1,000 employees have moved to Vertu, although Nokia is retaining a 10% shareholding in the company.

Microsoft is introducing a new online music service that uses the company’s Xbox brand, replacing the previous Zune branding. It’ll appear as part of an update to Xbox games consoles from Tuesday and will also be available on Windows 8 devices when the new OS launches.
Xbox Music will include a free music streaming service, a subscription service and an online music shop.

Wireless communications trade organisation CTIA-The Wireless Association has found that mobile data usage exceeded 1.1 trillion MB from July 2011 to June 2012, a 104% increase from the previous 12 months.
There are now 321.7 million mobile connections in the USA, the equivalent of 101% mobile penetration.

Japan-based IT and telecoms business SoftBank has agreed a deal that’ll see it owning around 70% of US mobile operator Sprint.
SoftBank will invest $20.1 billion, with shareholders receiving $12.1 billion and $8 billion being used as new capital.
