Apple changes its App Store terms and publishes its guidelines

Apple's relaxing some of the restrictions it had put in place for iOS developers – and it's also published its App Store Review Guidelines for the first time.

Earlier this year, Apple's rules had prevented iPhone developers from writing code using third-party software.

Listen to the keynote speech from Qualcomm's IQ2010 event

The Fonecast was at Qualcomm's IQ2010 event in London yesterday, which took place in The Science Museum. Dr Paul Jacobs, Qualcomm's chairman and CEO, started the day with a keynote speech in which he described the wireless industry - with over 5 billion subscribers worldwide - as "humanity's biggest platform". He went on to describe Qualcomm's achievements from the past 25 years and talked about its current and future activities, including its willingness to 'kick start' markets by producing devices and buying spectrum.

UK mobile advertising revenue to grow 840% in next five years

Revenue from the UK mobile advertising market is expected to grow 840% in the next five years, from £27.47 million this year to £258.27 million by 2015, according to new data from research agency mobileSQUARED.

Vodafone reorganises into two global regions

Vodafone Group plc has announced a new organisational structure that'll be in place from 1st October 2010. It's a simpler structure that's designed to help the company focus on its key commercial and financial priorities.

The group’s operating companies will be brought into two 'operating regions'.

Nokia announces DVB-H mobile TV receiver

Nokia has announced a broadcast TV receiver for mobile phones. It's designed to work with the forthcoming Nokia N8 smartphone and any other Symbian^3 devices that support the USB-on-the-go feature. The accessory should be in the shops later this year with a price tag of around €40 (which isn't far off £40 by the time you've added VAT).
