Mobile entertainment market will grow by $21 billion within 5 years

A new report from Juniper Research says the worldwide Mobile Entertainment market was worth $33 billion last year, with this figure expected to reach $54 billion in 2015. It says the rise will be driven by smartphone adoption and an increase consumer-oriented application downloads.

The combination of app stores and smartphones are described as having created 'an unprecedented level of awareness and usage of services' including social media, games, video and streamed music.

More than 50 virus-ridden applications found in Android Market

Mobile security company Lookout has found more than 50 applications in the Android Market that were infected with a new type of malware called DroidDream. Google has now removed all of the infected apps from their store.

The rogue applications can send information from the smartphone and can also allow additional software to be installed remotely.

The Apple iPad 2 is launched, along with iOS 4.3

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has launched the company's iPad 2 tablet device at a press event today.

It has the same 9.7-inch screen size (and resolution) as the original iPad but is 33% thinner and is also lighter. The device includes Apple's new 1GHz dual-core A5 processor and two cameras, with a front-facing camera for 'FaceTime' video calls and a rear-facing camera for 720p HD video recording.

New Nokia manufacturing site in Vietnam expected to open next year

Nokia has announced its intention to establish a new manufacturing site near Hanoi in northern Vietnam.

It's signed a Memorandum of Understanding with representatives of the Vietnamese government and plans an initial investment of approximately 200 million Euro. The new plant is due to open in 2012.
